The Backbone of GardeningI had finally found the answer: I’d like to try my hand at gardening. I’d seen people do it plenty of times before: beds of roses, carefully arranged window-box displays, a quaint vegetable garden. It couldn’t be that hard. The only difference was that the seed I had wasn’t one you’d find in a store, but a rather unique and rare kind. Into the depths of the soil I dropped a single vertebrae for my spine. I was finally going to grow myself a backbone.

what i am isn't what i wantI am a salmon swimming upstream through the narrow pathways of your veins. The more I try to swim into the corners of your heart, the more I struggle with the head-on current of your pulse. I’m never quite strong enough to make it. I’m swept away through your unfaithful, straying fingertips, eventually settling in the base of your curling toes so that I can feel it just a little bit easier every time you walk all over me.

Life is changing.
College has flung itself upon me and I'm being submerged in a new stage of my life.
I'm finally getting settled in and getting used to being here.
I'm so thankful to be surrounded by some of my closest friends from home,
(as well as some wonderful new ones already).
I miss back home and everyone that goes along with it,
but everything here smells of a fresh start,
and maybe that's what I need.

I'll take whatever life chooses to throw at me with outstretched arms and a marigold smile.
Just living life one day at a time and seeing where the summer breeze carries me.

The world is beautiful and so am I.
finally, so am I.

We get high in back seats of cars
We put faith in our concerns
Fall in love to down on the street
We believe in the sum of ourselves
